Family Haiku (Non-traditional) (Re-posted from June 29, 2012)

elder son, Joel

intimidating young man

filled with compassion

younger son, Christian

exasperating, witty

simply beautiful

the man, the dad, Charles

nurturing male mother, calm

azure-eyed soul-mate

root, sprout one, sprout two

home-grown trilogy of men

three vines in one

To Love or Not to Love

Upon first glance I saw the coming course

Though resisting him, was not blinded to the path

His offering I ignored for better, for worse

No space in my being, no yearning to be attached

Independent, needless of you, and tiresome romance

Please fade away, allow autonomy

Still, your heart pounds out a rhythm that beckons me dance

In closing my eyes and ears I will remain free

Approach me now, approach with cautiousness

Your crystal eyes hold visions I must explore

Increase the volume, I won’t resist the dance

Choosing you, wholly given, without struggle, freely taken, solely yours

Your heart, my song our dance, our unknown, our voice,

This tie that binds, you are my perfect choice
